Taking a moment to reflect on the milestones we achieved in 2024 and express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us. Together, we’re creating warmer, healthier homes and stronger communities across Taranaki and Whanganui.
Insulation: Warmer Homes, Healthier Whānau
This year, we made a big impact with our insulation initiatives, helping families across Taranaki. With support from OMV and TOI Foundation, we provided free insulation for 337 homes through the EECA Warmer Kiwi Homes Program. We also insulated 45 new builds, rental properties, and private homes.
“Please pass on my appreciation of the service from WISE. They young men were great, polite and very efficient. I also appreciate that your builder has fixed the accessibility under the house. I have and will continue to promote your services. Thank you so much.”
Healthy Homes Initiative & WHIPIT Remediations: Improving the health of homes
This year, our Healthy Homes Initiative and WHIPIT (Remediation) Initiatives tackled challenges like dampness, ventilation, and draughts in homes across Taranaki and Whanganui. With the incredible support of TOI Foundation, TET, TODD Energy, PowerCo and Variety, we made significant improvements in family living conditions.
“My son used to use his inhaler multiple times a day! He would wake up at least 4 times a night suffering from asthma. The house is so much warmer now and my son hardly uses his inhaler anymore! It’s amazing, the whole family gets more sleep now.”
The Junction: Zero Waste Success
Thanks to NPDC and TOI Foundation for supporting this essential initiative, which helps us build a cleaner, greener Taranaki.
Community Initiatives:
We’re proud of the initiatives that brought whānau together and made a difference in so many lives:
- Curtain Bank Launch: Providing quality pre-loved curtains to families facing energy hardship, thanks to TOI Foundation.
- Education Support: Donating essential stationery packs to Waitara High School, Waitara East Primary, and Manukorihi Intermediate to help tamariki thrive.
- 1,555 pairs of pyjamas distributed to keep tamariki warm and cozy during winter.
- Christmas Toy Drive: Receiving 94 toy donations shared with families through the Healthy Homes Initiative and TDHB Children’s Ward.
- Maara Kai: Led by our amazing volunteer Shimmie, fresh fruits and veggies were delivered to the Waitara Foodbank three times a week.
We are so grateful to be part of such a generous and caring community.
Thank you for an amazing 2024!
To our funders, supporters, and community – thank you for being part of our journey. Every achievement this year was made possible through your kindness, collaboration, and belief in what we do. Together, we’re creating warmer homes, healthier lives, and more connected communities.
Here’s to another year of building a better future for whānau across Taranaki and Whanganui.
